Found 1900 Census for New Kensington, PA which had a listing for William Custer. From the census I am able to deduce the following.
Custer, William. b. Nov 1868 in PA. Both parents born in PA. Married 8yrs (1892?). He was a carpenter who had a mortgage on his home.
wife - Annie. b. Oct 1871 in PA. Both parents born in Germany.
dau - Mabel b. Jan or Jun 1895 in PA.
son - Harvey b. Nov 1896 in PA.
son- Gustie b. Dec 1897 in PA.
dau - Edna b. Apr 1899 in PA.
The census lists Gustie who was an unknown. Possibly died young??? I have found possible matches for William Custer and Annie Barth in the 1880 census but nothing conclusive to determine their parents. Thanks to this site I've been in contact with the son of Walter and Elsie (Custer) Rehner who remembers a little of the family history.
