In looking up a lineage for my friend, I found an interesting statement that was made in their biography and am wondering about the truth of the statement. It was said that Robert Cushman's (of the Pilgrims) real name was Robert Workman and that it was changed to Cushman by the King of England when he knighted him. It was said that this story is true and had been told by other Cushmans in different states which testified to its authenticity. Does anyone know about this and the truth?
