Henry Wyles Cushman's "A Historical and Biographical Genealogy of the Cushmans: The Descendants of Robert Cushman the Puritan, From the year 1617 to 1855", at page 352 shows John of Stafford, CT, had three sons, with the first born named Samuel, born in Stafford. There is no date of birth or reference to a vital record. The place to look is in the Stafford, CT vital records. Samuel would be the seventh generation, counting Robert Cushman of Kent as generation #1.
Good luck on your research.
