Hi,
I am currently investigating my family tree. I am a decendent of the Curtis family that settled in Kent. All records I have point to them originating in Strood, although I can find no record of them being born there.
The only possible origins I have is St Pancras. George CURTIS was born around 1840, and married into the GRANT family.
His decendants were Florence, George, William, Charles, Bert and Arthur (b.1876). Arthur m. Florence HUTTON (b.1881). Most of the sons were Dentists, but I can only assume that the father was to.
It is known that Arthur worked as the Dentist at Chatham Dockyard. He also practiced in nearby Gillingham. I have found record of a Arthur CURTIS working in Hammersmith, together with a Florence HUTTON. Both Arthur & Florence were born in St. Pancras.
Does this match any of your family tree?
