I don't know if any of this will help, but will post it and let you see if it rings a bell.
The Curtis family I am researching begins with Isaiah Curtis, born 1800 in SC.In the census of 1830 he is in Lawrence Co. TN.In 1829, in this same county, he is the administrator of the estate of a James Curtis.Do not know how this James Curtis fits in.In the census of 1840, Isaiah is in Lauderdale Co. AL.Living near him is a James W. Curtis whose age is between 60 and 70 years. This James W. may be the father of Isaiah, don't know for sure.In the 1850 census of Lauderdale Co. Isaiah is listed with his second wife, Nancy Barr, same last name as yours. The older James W. Curtis does not appear in this census, but there is a widow named Polly Curtice, age 77, born SC, living with her daughter.I assume that this is the widow of James W. Curtis.Isaiah moved to Hempstead Co. AR around 1853 and remarried the following year.
Names of Isaiah's children were, Henry, John Morgan, Paten Eli, Jasper Newton, Houston and Baylor.
If you see a connection, let me know, as I have more information that I will be happy to share.
