Geneva,
I don't think there is much doubt that your Charles Edward is the son of Lucian and Annie Eliza.Sometimes, definite documentation is just not forthcoming, though we should not stop looking.I have been a little lax about ordering original records for my Curtises.I have a very interesting record of a Parker's Gin in Leon County, TX that mentions our Curtises over and over.I also have some Leon County Land Records.I am not sure why I never tried to find a death certificate for Lucian Curtis.I have 1850, Scott Co. MS census record for Lucian still living at home with his mother. And then the 1870 census of Leon Co, TX of Lucian, wife and 2 children. And the 1900 Limestone Co., TX census record of Eliza A. (CURTIS) THOMAS and her children after her husband (Dr. Jerome Eugene THOMAS) died.Where were they in 1860 and 1880??When you get back online and would like to have copies of any of the above (the census records are just transcriptions), I will scan them and send them to you with e-mail.I also have a family Bible that belonged to my grandparents (the son of Jerome Eugene).I will gladly scan anything that might be of interest to you....pictures included.Just let me know when your life settles down a little.
I will keep your sister-in-law in my prayers.
Your cuz,
Dolores Davis
