I forgot that I also have what looks like a copy of a newspaper article dated July 4, 1954, from "The Daily News-Telegram" Sulphur Springs, TX, entitled "Cattlemen for Almost 100 Years / Currin Family Came to County in 1870."It features James M.Currin as one of James F and Sue Jones' children, also listing Lou, but they call him "Louis."He [James Madison Currin] also married a Smith!"Belle Smith, daughter of John T. Smith, who emigrated to Tx from Alabama before the Civil War."It mentions that James Madison was born in NC in 1856, and that the family came to TX in 1860.If the listed children are listed in age order, chances are that Louis or Lou was also born in NC.
The article also mentioned Robert H [that would be father of Ed] as being the "first to register his cattle brand. In 1877,his cattle were marked aBOB on the left side."It goes on to tell about the other Currins' brands and their various achievements. If I had a scanner, I would scan and send to you.I can probably work something out to scan from my office tomorrow, if this sounds like something you would be interested in seeing.Let me know if you want it. ~Kathryn
