Hi Connie,
Would you be able to tell me if your John Currie had any connections with Midlothian, Scotland. My Currie family moved from there to England in 1844, Thomas Currie was a papermaker by trade, and eventually, became manager of the 'Roughway Papermill' Plaxtol, Wrotham, Kent, circa 1861. This family had four daughters, which included twins, born at sea between Leith, Scotland and London, in 1844, and one son called John who was born in 1846 in Horton, Bucks. I do not know what became of him after 1861, at this time he had become a millwright apprentice at the Roughway Mill.
There could be a very remote chance that there maybe a connection between your Currie family and mine, unlikely, but you never know!
Kind regards,
Jane.
