Martha and Bernard Curry (Currie) Ulster Co., NY
Posted by: Kate Hanley Date: January 27, 1998 at 10:44:17
  of 1758

I have found the Curry name spelled Currie, Curee, even Coury.
Mine line spelled it CURRY, and I'm looking for relatives or connections to these people.

Stephen Curry, b. Ireland 1785 lived in Kingston NY until he was
well into his 90's.

Martha Curry, most probably a relative, perhaps even a daughter, lived in Brooklyn in 1847 with her husband Patrick Burk. Both were born in Ireland, possibly Cavan. They arrived in Brooklyn somewhere after 1845 as their son, Patrick Jr. was born in Ireland, according to the 1850 NY census. Their daughter Kathryn was born in Brooklyn in July of 1847. Their remaining children, James, Arthur, Rose, Margaret, Sarah and Mary were all born in Kingston, NY.

Patrick Jr. left his parents home before 1860 and was living with Stephen Curry, age 65+, in Kingston. Patrick later changed his name to Bernard Curry and joined the NY 120th in 1861.

The other children of Patrick and Martha relocated to NYC
Martha died before the 1880 census, and Patrick Sr. d. 1889 in Kingston.

Anyone who thinks they might have any information or a connection to this family, please contact me to share information.
