Hi! I just recently found out that my great-great-grandparents, Alexander and Mary (Raymond) Currie, lived in South Dorchester, Elgin County. According to the 1900 U.S. Census in Sanilac County, Michigan, Alex was born Nov 1837 in Canada. Both of his parents' were born in Scotland. Alex and Mary had at least 4 children, maybe 5, in Elgin County. They are Geneva May Currie b. 1872, William E. Currie b. abt. 1874, Nancy Alberta Currie b. 1876, Alexander Currie b. 1879, and Mary Ellen Currie b. 1881. They also had a daughter, Bertha b. abt 1884, possibly in Elgin County. They had two sons, Ervin b. 1885 and Archie b. 1889 in Sanilac County, Michigan. Archie is my great-granfather. I am not sure who Alexander's parents are, but on his daughter Nancy's birth record, it lists the informant as Margaret Curry, sister of the Curry's. I can't tell if it says Mrs. or Miss Margaret Curry, so it may mean sister-in-law. On the son Alexander's birth record in 1879, James Currie of South Dorchester is listed as the informant. There was also a James A. Currie of Dresden who attended Archie's marriage in 1924. Archie's marriage record lists Alexander's birthplace as Middlesex County. Your family looked like a close match, so I was wondering if you had more info. It looks like Alex and Mary with their 4 oldest children were living in South Dorchester for the 1881 census.
