I'm not researching this name, but I do have some info to share in the hopes that it helps someone. From my book 1891 "Biographical History of Pottawattamie Co, Iowa," a bio for JOHN CURRIE, JR., farmer of Norwalk Twp, born near Edinburg, Fifeshire, Scotland, ca. Feb 14, 1837 "thought to be the date, but on account of the records of the Currie family becoming lost when they came to the United States, the date is rather uncertain." He was the son of John and Tomema (Blythe) Currie, both natives of Fifeshire, Scotland, where they married and resided until coming to the United States in 1849. They landed at port of New Orleans, and soon came to Council Bluffs (Kanesville), Iowa and commenced farming. In 1852, they went to Utah with the Latter Day Saints; in 1863 theyr eturned to Crescent City, Iowa, where the father died in 1880 (age 76). Tomema Currie had died in 1850. John Currie Sr was a blacksmith and a presiding Elder in the Latter Day Saints Church. After the death of his first wife, he married AMANDA CHIPMAN who died in Utah. By his first marriage, he had ten children, six now living: Agnes Toprith of Crescent City; James; Ellen; John Jr; Robert; William; Euphemia wife of Robert Adams; Thomas, Katherine and Margaret are deceased. JOHN CURRIE JR. married in 1860 to Elizabeth A. Filchber (b. England 1839) who died at Crescent City April 13, 1881. She was the mother of 11 children, 9 now living: Margaret, wife of Sylvester Pratt; John B; Eliza wife of Thomas Walton; Ann wife of Harry Fisher; Aggie; Frank R; and Lorena May; the deceased are Joseph A.; Cora Jane. John Jr. married again to JENNIE THOMPSON (b. Ohio, January 1843). John Jr.'s brother, Robert Currie, traveled the west extensively for the Railroad. Robert Currie married March 24, 1861 in Utah to Elizabeth Jones (b. South Wales daughter of David E. Jones). Robert and Elizabeth had children: John L; William C.; James R.; Thomas H.; George W.; Mary Elizabeth, and Orse. END I hope this is helpful to someone. If you have a connection and want copies of the bios, please e-mail me directly.
