My great grandmother was Louch E. Almond. Her first name is “Lucy” on her tombstone in the Gilgal Cemetery in Claiborne Parish is just a few miles from the wee city of Minden, La.(Minden is in Webster Parish.)I have a photo of that stone, if you’re interested.Louch was married to Joseph W. ADAMS.They lived and died in Claiborne Parish.I’ll check to see what I have on Lucy’s parents. If you are out of the Lucy-Joseph W. Adams connection I can get you back to a Revolutionary War soldier. If your connection is strictly Almond, I don’t have much to share with you yet except the following which was researched for me by a wonderful librarian genealogist at the Webster Parish Library by name of John AGAN.Mr. Agan wrote:
On the Almond side, in the 1870 Census for that area of Claiborne Parish there is a W.G. Almond married to Martha C. Almond. He was born in Georgia while the wife is listed as being born in Georgia also. They have in the household an 11-year-old daughter, listed as “Luch E.”I believe that even though the mother’s birthplace is not listed as Alabama, the “Luch E.” is Lucy or Luce, so W.G. and Martha are her parents.
He suggested that Martha might have been born in either Georgia or Alabama about 1832.However, on her tombstone is the date b. 1856—died 1936—so I’ll need to learn more about that. Whatever I find I'll be happy to share with you.
Yes, your Francis married a great aunt of mine.I've not filed that info correctly,so I'll have to do a bit of digging. My email address is [email protected] or [email protected]
