According to a family history written by my g-grandmother, Mary Levisa Flowers Lackey, whose mother was Mary Curl (Flowers), d/o Jarred and Sallie Jacobs Curl, grd/o William Jr. and Keziah Gamblin Curl g-grd/o William Curl of Chatham Co., NC:

William Curl, Sr. was a Quaker, and did not believe in war. He had 2 sons - Bennie and George - who volunteered and served in the Revolutionary War and were never heard from again. She specifically stated that
"William Curl was seven years old when the Revolutionary War began, and was fourteen when it closed." She knew of no other children.
