This website shows that Curetons were of highest concentration in Shropshire in both 1881 & 1998 UK censuses. Second highest concentration in Wales: Powys & Ceredigion in 1881.

In 1685, Quaker Richard Cureton migrated to the American colonies to Penn's Colony, later Pennsylvania, with his wife Margaret & children William & Jane. Many Curetons in the United States descend from him.

My paternal grandmother was a Cureton. One of her nephews, also a Cureton, took a Y-DNA test a couple of months ago & his haplogroup was identified as I1 (Eye-one). Hope to recruit other men with the surname of Cureton (or variant) to compare his markers to.
