Dear Clayton,

Isaac Cundy is my great grandfather also. I found the original census from Cornwall where Isaac is still married to Selina. I am descended through him and his second wife, Margaret Lawrence whom he married in Deadwood South Dakota. I have doubts that he actually divorced Selina before marrying her. As far as I know, both his son and daughter came to Deadwood from England when they grew up. I have not done anything on that part of the family in a while, but I have a thirteen page geneology which was done by one of your cousins several years ago. I do know that this Cundy family were tin miners for several generations in the same little part of Cornwall before coming here. I have found several things on censuses which contradict some of the earlier geneology which was done. Please contact me directly if you would like, and I would love to find out how we are related.

P. S. An interesting side point to this story is the fact that my grandfather, Richard Cundy, was the only boy from Isaac's second marriage, but he took one of his step-fathers last name, so if it were not for Isaac's son from his first marriage, there would be no Cundy name from that line in the U.S. now. I was supposed to go to Cornwall last summer to meet some of the English cundy line, but the day I was leaving Paris for London was the day of the London subway bombing so I did not go. Please feel free to contact me at and I can give you my phone number. I am always excited to actually find someone else from my line who is doing geneology.
