Hi Gerald, you may have this information already, but I was intrigued by
the BRAZEE surname - from New York state- probably Dutch.
I found on GENFORUM: SURNAME: BRAZEE -
doing some quick search: named spelled various ways (naturally!):
Bresee,Bresie,Brezie,Brazie,Brazee (like Zee in Holland?),Brasy,Brisee,Brussie,
Brussy,Brussi,Bressy.
There was a family living in Hillsdale - and also in "COPAKE FLATS"
which is very near Hillsdale - the early settlers were Francis Brasie,Nicholas Brusie, and Cornelius Brasie - definitely Dutch first names.
In the Latter Day Saints/Family Search:
Amenda Bresie - b. 1807 W.Copake, Columbia, NY
Amanda Bresie - b. 1808(same person?) father William Bresie,
mother Mary Johnson (Johannson - Swedish or Danish?)
Interesting to note: using www.google.com, Exact Phrase: Amanda Brazee:
GOOGLE BOOKS:
CINCINATTI, THE QUEEN CITY, 1788-1912 by Charles Frederic Goss
(Cincinatti has a German settlement across the Ohio River from the main city)
Amanda Brazee -page tells about her husband and their accomplishments.
Probably not your Amanda Brazee...but interesting--noteworthy family.
My father's people were from the Netherlands and settled in New Amsterdam. Descendants of Peter Praa. So I know what looking through old Dutch Reformed records can "cost" one! They are not in English!
