The Ezekiel WITTY that married Mary ALLISON in Wilson County, Tennesses is not the one you list. This Ezekiel C. WITTY was born ca. 1796 in Guilford/Rockingham Co., NC, and died 13 Feb. 1882 in Warren Co., TN. His wife Mary ALLISON was born ca. 1797 in Loudoun Co., VA, and died 16 Aug. 1883 in Warren Co., TN. She was the daughter of William ALLISON and wife Elizabeth. This family continued to live in Wilson County through at least 1850, and by 1860 had moved to Warren County, TN. They had children: 1. Elijah L. C. WITTY b. ca. 1819; m. Anne E.; d. 13 Feb. 1882 Warren Co., TN (2. Elizabeth M. m. James H. LONG m. bond 13 Apr. 1837 Wilson Co., TN)? 3. William A. WITTY (Billy) b. ca. 1822; m. Wilborn W. WITTY b. ca. 1834; m.1. Susan C. b. c 1831; m.2. Matilda J. SHERLEY 22 Apr. 1873 Cannon Co., TN; he d. 24 Nov. 1885 (suicide) 7. John B. WITTY b. ca. 1836; m. Mary E. FAUSETT b. ca. 1839 NC; m. 28 Dec. 1857 Warren County, TN 8. Thomas WITTY b. ca. 1839 It is believed this Ezekiel C. WITTY is the son of Elijah WITTY by his first wife. In 1850 Ezekiel was living next to Vivant BEVILL and wife Tabitha who in Elijah WITTY's 1841 Rockingham Co., NC will is named as his daughter Tabitha BEVELL. This Elijah WITTY and the Ezekiel WITTY of your listing, and Andrew WITTY are possibly sons of John WITTY who received a 640 acre grant that is in (now) both Guilford and Rockingham Cos., NC. Living two houses on the other side of Ezekiel WITTY in 1850 Wilson County is John R. MOODY, born 1806 in Guilford Co., NC who married Cassander F. ALLISON, sister to Ezekiel C. WITTY's wife. John R. MOODY was the son of Thomas L. MOODY (b. ca. 1778) and Thankful McCUISTON, and grandson of Thomas MOODY and wife Mary (b. ca. late 1750s?). In 1824 Thomas L. MOODY sold 104 acres of the original John WITTY grant in Guilford County, NC. There is no record of him having purchased this land. Because of this, plus the fact that John R. MOODY moved to Wilson Co., TN 10 years after (ca. 1827) the WITTY family, and used the name Elijah Witty MOODY among his children, it is thought that Mary (b. late 1750s, wife of Thomas MOODY, Sr.) may also be a daughter of John WITTY, and how her son Thomas L. MOODY acquired a part of his land grant to be able to sell it.
