Yep, it's the same family. The reason I hit on Anderson county in 1830 is because of the presence of an older woman named Martha Cummins, who was with the CUmmins family in Indiana. There was also a Martha and Samuel living next to each other in Anderson co. TN. From there, I just went back to Virginia and started looking up likely possibilities. When I found a Samuel the correct age to be the one who was in IN 1850, he was living next door to an older Joseph Cummins, in Montgomery county. Then I found one of the other residents named Mahlon COllins, which raised my eyebrows a little, considering there were Mahlon Cummins' all down the line in my branch.
