I do not know anything about Joseph being the son of Samuel Cummins, b. 1783 in Virginia. I am the great-great grandson of Sampson Cummins, b. in Tennessee 17 May 1825 (according to his tombstone), the son of Samuel & Kezia Cummins who appears in the 1850 Sullivan County, IN census. Sampson Cummins m. Mary Douthit 18 Dec 1859. He served as pvt. in the Civil War, IN 80th Regiment, Co. C. He died in Knox County, IN 18 Oct 1881. Sampson's brother George W. Cummins was born in Tennessee 20 Sept 1831 and died in Knox County, IN 24 Dec 1901. It was my impression that the family lived in Williamson County, Tennessee before moving to Indiana (1830 TN census - Samuel Cummins)What do you have in reference to Anderson County, TN? I am searching for any information on Samuel Cummins, his parents, place of origin. Jonathan Andrews (Knox County, IN)
