I surely hope we ARE searching the same family. I do not know if any of my family is from Westmoreland. Would that be in PA by chance? I descend from James Cummins & Nancy Nutt's daughter Nancy Cummins who married Josiah T. Smith (they married in Hamilton County OH in 1832. James Cummins & J.T. Smith & some other families from Crosby township Hamilton County OH moved to Des Moines County Iowa in 1839.

I know nothing of James Cummins prior to 1810 when he shows up in Warren County, OH at time of his marriage in 1810.
