I was looking back over my research on my DAVIS family and had just about given us any hope on finding any parents or siblings of my Isaac Davis and Catherine Cummins until I went back and looked at the 1850 Murray County Georgia census records. Living next to my Isaac Davis was Andrew Cummins. He was 24 (the census was gathered Sept. 1850, he would have been 25 in July)born in Tenn. His wife was Nancy age 23 born in South Carolina their children were Mary Cummins age 1 born in Georgia, Sarah Cummins age 2mo. b. in Georgia. I believe that Andrew is the brother of my ancestor Catherine Cummins. Here is the informtation I have on my Davis and Cummins line: Isaac Davis b. January 25,1812/17 in S. Carolina married Catherine Cummins b. October 18,1822 in Tenn. They were married January 12, 1842 in Greene County Tennessee. Nancy Cummins and Isaac Davis were both born in S. Carolina could they have been also brother and sister? It has already happened to several of my ancestors who have married into families that lived close to them. Isaac and Catherine had the following children: John Davis b. 1844 in Tennessee, William Horton Davis b. July 22, 1846 in Tennessee, James DAvis b. 1848 in Georgia, Susan A. Davis b. June 21, 1850 in Georgia, Mary Jane Davis b. 1855 in Georgia, Nancy Ann Davis b. 1857 in Georgia, Melvina Davis b. 1860 in Alabama, Thomas Davis b. 1862 in Alabama. Isaac and Catherine were on the 1850 Murray County Census records next to Andrew Cummins and his family, they were on the Franklin county Alabama 1860 census records and the 1880 Comanche County Texas census records. Isaac and Catherine are buried side by side in Board Church cemetery in Comanche County Texas. I really believe we have a matche here with Andrew and Catherine Cummins.
