James Cummins was living in KY in 1826 when his daughter Martha was born. When Martha m
Henry Maxwell of St. Louis MO, she was described as the daughter of James Cummins of KY. In 1848 James witnessed a will for Charles Witt of Barren Co KY. Decades later Martha's son Charles migrated to Denton Co TX to marry into the Witt family. The Cummins/Witt connection is not clear.

James probablly lived in St. Louis MO in his later life.
