I have been away from this Forum for some time, so I am re=posting my interests. I am interested in tracing a Thomas Cummins or Cummings, living in either Hartlepool or the Easington District, on the East Coast of County Durham in 1844/5. He is the named father of my gt grandfather, Robert Hodgson Stothard who was born 1845 in Monk Hesledon, Castle Eden. His mother was Mary Ann Hodgson. Thomas is described as a labourer. There appear to be no Cummings living in Castle Eden in 1851, although a Joseph Cummings aged 6 and born in Castle Eden was visiting St Andrew Auckland at the time of the census. I have found a Thomas Cummins born c1823 living in Hutton
Henry [a village not far from Castle Eden] in 1881 who may be the person I am looking for. If you recognise this person, I wouold like to hear.
