Hi,
Looking for information about Abigail Culver, b. 1778 in Champlain, Clinton, NY, and d. 7 May 1859 in Champlain, Clinton, NY. Abigail married William Shute of Kinderhook, Columbia, NY (marriage date unknown).
They had at least 4 children: Olive Shute Lord, Roxanna Shute Chase, Maria Shute Parkhurst, and Delia Shute Mooers (my 3rd great grandmother).
I had been unable to find Abigail's last name for awhile, but just read about a book that talks extensively about the Shute family in NY, and identifies her as a Culver ("McKENDREE: THE LIFE OF McKENDREE PETTY (1827-1887), Professor at the University of Vermont and Minister of the Methodist Episcopal Church, with Biographical Sketches of his Ancestors, Descendants, and other Kinfolk in New England, New York, and Beyond," by Edward H. Worthen). I've searched a bit more, and have been unable to find anything about Abigail's parents.
Does anyone have information on possible parents of Abigail, or any Culvers in Champlain/Clinton County area of NY? Any leads would be appreciated!
