Hi Isobel,
Thanks for taking the time to look this up for me. It looks promising, Henry was a Gardener on his son John's marriage cert so Agricultural Labourer is the same thing just about. Rebecca folows through the family as does Sarah and James Henry was another name.
A couple of people have looked for John and Ann (Holding) on the 1841 census, but so far they seem to be hiding!!

Thanks for your time anyway. What are the dates for the RC church in Wrightington, do you know? If it is an old church like St. Gregory's in Chorley I think you could be right that Baps would more than likely be there. I just have to find out how to get a hold of them. This is the problem when you live on the other side of the country (Sunderland).
