I don't know much beyond William but am defnitely interested. William is my 2nd ggrandfather. I do know something about the family. WILLIAM CULPEPPER was born Abt. 1830 in Kentucky, and died April 01, 1877 in Mt. Vernon, Posey County, IN2. He married SARAH KISNER August 29, 1852 in New Harmony, IN, daughter of FREDERICK KISNER and RHODA WILLIAMS (?). Sarah was born August 09, 1836 in Fairmont, WV, and died January 24, 1926 in Evansville, Vandenburgh County, IN.
It is my family legend that William and Sarah were on a boat when it sunk near New Harmony, IN. I'm not sure that is true as it looks like William did come from KY. William was also a stone mason and carver, in addition to being master blacksmith. it looks like Sarah's brother John Kisner (you have Risner) lived with them as an apprentice.
