I also am looking for the Josiah CULP/KOLB lineage. This how I am connected: Reta J. "Culp" Brown; Father: Cecil Raymond Culp; Grandfather: Jermiah "Jerry" Culp; Great Grandfather: Benjamin D. Culp; Great Great Grandfather: Josiah CULP m. Rachel Eaton. Josiah CULP came to TX in the mid 1830's at about the age of 17. He apparently traved the the Eaton, Parker and maybe Sam Houston familes. Josiah CULP did receive (2) two seperate land grants. (1) for arriving in TX then the Republic of Texas between March 2, 1836 and October 1, 1837, 640 acres for a single male. (2) he served faithfully and honorably between April 1, 1837 to October 1, 1837, signe by Department of War, Republic of Texas. There is a family tale that the name CULP was a change from maybe KOLB and that Josiah CULP had a brother who changed his name back to the original spelling maybe KOLB (no known first name). It seems that somewhere along my line of research there has been mention that a Josiah KOLB was in TN about the time that our Josiah CULP would have been in TN. Does anyone have any concrete information reqarding this? Also, Rachel Eaton, Josiah's wife did correspond with the TN Culps (Henry Culp lineage) seems one of them probably married an Eaton also. Does anyone have knowledge of CULP/KOKB in GA? Reta J. "Culp" Brown Phone (972) 272-2688 E-mail = rrbrown@flash.net
