Reta, are you related to the KOLB FAMILY who lived along the Great Pee Dee River, (now in) Darlington Co., S.C.? A member of my maternal line, which is DABBS, a CAPTAIN JOSEPH DABBS (Jr. or II), boat builder, who was prob. the son of JOSEPH DABBS of Goochland Co., Va., md. HANNAH KOLB, c1753, dau. of Rev. Soldier COLONEL KOLB. There is a large obelisk marker alongside the PeeDee in Darlington Co. that tells the story of COL. KOLB and how he had gone home to visit his family. The Tories burned his home, and in fleeing the flames, they shot and killed him. The children of CAPT. JOSEPH & HANNAH (KOLB) DABBS were WILLIAM, NANCY & SAMUEL. CAPT. JOSEPH DABBS was killed in 1781 during the Revolution. He had served in Northeast St. David's Parish Volunteer Company under CAPTAIN ROBERT LIDE . (The LIDE FAMILY & my WILLIAMSON FAMILY [my paternal line] intermarried.). I just thought this might be of some help to you, in case you did not have this data.
