My database includes only one David Cragehead Cullum, first wife susan R. Felts and second wife Mary E. Boyte. Is this your Ancestor? I hope you will share the information about your line so I can add it my Cullom/Cullum descendents database.
The Cullom/Cullum variance was sometimes the work of clerks as in the case of my ggfather E.R. Cullom. The spelling was changed while he was in the Rock Island PW camp during the Civil War. E.R. was the grandson of Jesse Potts Cullum and son of Jesse Potts Cullum.
As far as I know, no one has had any luck finding the link to the old country, although E.R. stated in 1884 that his Cullum ancestors were of Irish extraction. The Irish Cullums were descended from Sir Hugh Cullum who went there in the time of Elizabeth I. But another grandson of Jesse said his family was all English. So we're at a standstill until some new records are uncovered, probably in VA.
