The following was found by a friend in the
IGI (Morman) baptismal records and might mean something.

Thomas (Cullan, Cullen, Cullin), originally of Co. Wexford - no wife's name or
marriage data given - had the following children christened or baptised (ch) in
Dalry, Ayr, Scotland:

Thomas Cullin ch 05 may 1811

Jean Culling ch 22 Aug 1813

John Cullens ch 03sep1815
Margaret Cullen ch 13jul1817

There are other children, but the name given is Culling or Cullings - can't tell if
it's a separate set of parents or not:

Jean Cullings ch 15 Jul 1819

Margaret Cultan ch 24oct1821
John Cullings ch 04jul1824
William Culling ch 30jul1826
Janet Cullen ch 22aug1830

The fact that there are two Jeans might mean that the first died and, as was the Irish custom, the next child of the same sex was given the same name. But these were people who had fled Co. Wexford. No doubt the 98 rebellion and it's aftermath had something to do with that. Christened in Scotland, the oldest children may well have been born in Ireland or may simply have viewed Scotland as a stop along the way to North America. Hope this helps.

Jim
