Just off chance, but here are my Cullens. John B(rennon) Cullen b. ca. 1814 US m. Winifred Hall McCarty b. 1819 of Leesburg, Loudon Co VA as 2nd wife. She was an episcopalian. They moved to Oxford, MS ca 1850s (south of Memphis TENN), and some desc. are still there. Mother's mother's father, Linburn, was son of W. & John. John B. Cullen was a dentist. Some of Winifred's ancestors were Pope, Ball, etc. and some lived within eyeshot of Maryland or had land there. Gr-grandfa Linburn used to dance a jig I was told, and Louvicia, my grandmother, also would do little Irish dances. She told me he had done research on his family tree, found lots in books on VA. She said they were from County Cork I believe. Winifred's McCartys were Irish, in VA in 1660s,land records. Cullen is the 80th most common name in Ireland. I've visited Scotland and it meant a great deal to me -- unforgetable, didn't get to Ireland, but perhaps your father would enjoy seeing a variety of places. The Irish Family Names map (for medieval period) shows the various family names, and I think Cullens were in Cork and Wexford which are both south of Dublin and on the coast as I recall. I've loaned the map to a friend. Bookstores should have some neat map and tour guides.
