Chas. C. Culbertson
Greetings,
I am a Librarian in SW Virginia. Recently a patron came to me saying she has a sword with the name "Chas. C. Culbertson" on it. She wanted to find out who he was. I have looked in the Confederate States Roster and books about the Revolution and War of 1812. I found lots of Culbertsons but no Chas. or Charles. Census records haven't helped, either. There was a Charles in the 1850 census in Virginia (Scott County, I believe) and maybe that's the one but, if so, and he wasn't in the Civil War, what's the meaning of the sword?. I spent about an hour going through the Forum's archives and didn't find anything helpful there, either. Does anyone have any idea who this might have been? Many thanks in advance, Will Stein
