Culberson, Emily McDaniel Age 80 of West Knoxville, formerly of Seguin Texas, passed away Tuesday evening January 9, 2001 at Parkwest Hospital in Knoxville. She graduated from Texas Lutheran College. Emily was a member of Church Street United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and participated in the church’s Soup Kitchen program serving the less fortunate. Emily was dedicated to being a homemaker to her family. Over the years she also served as a Girl Scout leader in Corpus Christi TX and Charlotte NC, participated in Meals on Wheels and spent thousands of hours as a volunteer at Children’’s Hospital in Knoxville. Emily was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard King McDaniel and Emma Enck McDaniel; sisters, Leona McDonald and Margaret Albers. She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Oran L. Culberson; daughters and son-in-law, Suzanne and Robert Kita of Bailey CO, Eileen Schlatter and Carol Rimmer both of Farragut; grandchildren, Oran Kita and wife Jennifer, Scott Kita, Valerie Richardson and husband Jay Hoodenpyl, John Michael Schlatter, Steven Rimmer; great grandchildren, Jack and Phillip Hoodenpyl; brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Nita McDaniel of Garden City KS, and brother-in-law John Albers, Seguin TX. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel. A private service will be held Friday at the Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery with Rev. Cabel W. Trent officiating. Her family expresses special thanks for the care given her by the staffs at Farragut Health Care Center and Ft. Sanders Parkwest Hospital/Med Central.
