This is my family. My GGgrandfather was Nicholas.Michael's Father was James, but we don't know who he had married or where in Ireland their line comes from. We will be visiting Ireland to do a little research in June if anyone can give me a lead where James was from. We do know that Michael and Lucia were married at St Aeoden (sp?)in Dublin.Their first three children were baptised there (Baby James who died early, a second James, Nicholas and we think Patrick, though there is some indication he may have been born at sea.
What I do know about Michael was that he and Lucia came to the US during the Great Famine and settled in Stroud PA. Michael bought land and began a farm.He also went into a partnership and started a tannery in Tannersville, PA. Michael died without a will.Lucy could not inherrit the partnership and so sole ownership went to the partner. She also could not keep up the farm, so they had to sell off everything.I have copies of these documents acquired by another researcher of the family.I think Lucy got something like $300.She moved to New York and lived with her two youngest daughters who were dressmakers.Nicholas married Mary and moved to New Jersey. If you would like the whole story, I can email it to you.
