Hi, My wife Pam and I were at the genealogy library in FT. Wayne, Indiana and found an article about "Juan Cuevas The hero of CAT island". It basically said that he was part of the group of people who set up a blockade in Mississippi Sound to keep the British from getting to New Orleans. It seems that they slowed the British long enough for Andrew Jackson and Jean Lafette to organize an army to defeat them. From what I have heard thru the years I understand he was awarded posession of the island for his heroics. I will try to confirm this and post the results.
Please stay intouh and keep me updated with anything you find.

BJ

P.S. We are talking about visiting the Biloxi area in December. Mabey we could meet and compare notes.
