No ma'am, I'm was born and raised in Perkinston, Mississippi; about a 25-30 minute drive from Gulfport. The funky address on my email is because I'm in the Air Force stationed at Hurlburt Field, FL. Part of that message was somewhat misinformed. It was my gandmother's mother (Mary Irene Quave Hatten) that went out to Cat Island (late 1800's/early 1900's) during her childhood, not my grandmother (Modez Hatten Lott). I apologize for the sloppy thinking on my part. The other half about the exile came from both my dad and my grandmother, so I was looking for some clarification. I think it is not true, considering Juan de married a Ladner from the Christian L'Adnier family, first "owners" of the island. My mother is currently working it, and has mapped back all the way to Spain with Juan De, and traced Mary Ladner all the way back to D'Iberville in 1699, Montreal before then, and back to France in the early 1500's. But, again to answer your question, I'm not from Michigan. Just an at-least-5th-generation-South-Mississippian-on-both-sides guy! Very Respectfully, Barry M.
