I think I could help with some Information:

Jorge (George in English) Cuevas, Marquis of Piedrablanca, was a cousin of my grand grand father in Chile. The origins of the name are located in Santander, Spain. The family is part of the 5,000 official novelty lines in Spain. The first ancestor I have record is Juan de Cuevas (1514-1591) who arrived to Chile in 1,560 aprox. He was member of the government of the country.

But the family in Chile lost all their novelty possesions and titles which were taking away from the King of Spain, because the family played an active role in the independence of the country and further government. Jorge married Ms. Rockefeller and his ballet was the most important of maybe all times, and he performed in almost all the royal courts in Europe. But as I explained, there were no titles in the family. Jorge bought a title as Marquis of Piedrablanca, among the wide list of titles availables in those times as a result of family that have estinguished their lines or their rights cancelled by royal orders.

I hope I was helpfull. I have a piece of the history of the Cuevas line in Chile.

Bye,

Hernan Cuevas
