Cuddy from Cullinfad Armagh
Posted by: Cliff Huber Date: February 10, 2001 at 18:53:43

A great aunt, Helena Grace Brookman married Loftus Cuddy b 1852. His father was James Cuddy b 1812 Ireland, a brother of Thomas Cuddy who married Esther Truman. According to the author, Ethel Cuddy Barnett, of a slender Cuddy history (Birmingham 1946) the Cuddy family came from Scotland to Ireland in the 1600's settling in County Armagh. There is mention of related Cuddy families as well as those of Smith, Waters, Johnston, and McGill among others. Strathroy Ontario was considered the home area for Cuddies in Canada, as was Cuddy in Pennsylvania. I'd be happy to send info by email.
