If your family migrated to the U.S. and became citizens, you can write to the INS for a copy of their immigration and citizenship applications. It contains a wealth of information, including birth and marriage certificates, a listing of their residences prior to immigration. You can write to them at the following address: Immigration and Naturalization Service, Department of Justice, 425 I Street NW, Washington, DC 20536. They will send you a form which you must complete and send back to them. (You will have to make copies of the form for each inquiry. Also, make extra copies just in case.)
