Barreto, Juan D.: Cuba>MD 1875>NYC 1880

John D.(Juan)Barreto, born 7/26/1854 Cuba, came to US (Baltimore) in about 1875. Family legend says that his family lost their sugar plantation in Havana during a revolution. His death certificate says that his parents were Mathew and Marian (Diza/Diaz?).
His and his wife, Dolores de Castro, had 2 children:

John Joseph Barreto, born 5/26/1876 MD &
Albert F. Barreto, born ca 1878 MD.

Dolores died about 1888, buried in Brooklyn cemetery.

John D. is on Baltimore city directories from 1875 to 1881.
He is on New York City directories from 1884 to 1888-89 and lived in Port Chester, NY until death in 1921.
John married Katherine E. Plant of NYC about 1889. They had 3 children: Phyllis, Clarence and Marjorie.
