Criner family of Cuba and France
Posted by: Jessica Ludena (ID *****7182) Date: August 13, 2011 at 10:00:07

I am looking for information on the Criner family. According to his birth certificate, my great grandfather, Carlos Alejandro Criner y Garcia, was born in Manguito, Matanzas, Cuba on April 4, 1909. His birth certificate also states that his father, Arturo Criner y Kopp, was a native of France who renounced his Spanish (but not French?) citizenship and had declared his intention to become a Cuban citizen. The certificate also states that Arturo's parents, Bartolome Criner y Quilleron and Elisa Kopp Chirolet, were both natives of France. It is further mentioned that Elisa was a resident of St. Etienne, France.
