If you google these days, you will find an Elena Yurubi de Montalvan in Trinidad de Cuba who is the wife of a a US citizen, William S. Lynn. Mrs. Lynn is arrested, and a plea for her is made by none other than Horatio Fox, US consul in Trindad de Cuba. Mrs. Lynn is described as being the mother of a rebel chief, Juan Bautista Spotorno, who is sometimes referred to as "Juan Bautista Spotorno y Yurubi" and sometimes as "Juan Bautista Spotorno y Georovich" b. 1832. He later became acting president of Cuba. His parentage is said to be Italian and of Ragusa Dalmatia. His sister, Maria Spotorno y Montalvan de Prats, wife of a rebel captain, was also arrested, and vouched for by Horatio Fox. See the history of Trinidad de Cuba and some US state department documents on the web. An Andres Yurubi is also mentioned in the history of Trinidad.
