Thanks for the information about Alfred Cox. He fits in nicely with the family story that was passed down. It definitely merits looking into. Whoever was the father of my paternal grandmother, Nellie Mae Smallwood, 1899-1937, Ga., he never married her mother, Nancy Jane Smallwood, 1873-1949, Ga. It seems illegitimacy was common in my family at that time. There definitely was a hurricane in Cuba, in 1909.
