I was reading your post and found it very interesting. Have you tried contacting the Cuban Gealogical Society. Or The Cuban Geanology Center? There ia a big Cuban-Jewish comunity in Miami that does have connection with the small jewish comunity in Cuba. Maybe if you contact them they could find out about the grave in the Colon Cementary. Sephardic jewish name usually end with a "z", Ortiz the last name on the grave could be jewish.
