My paternal grandmother's name was Crestencia Liguerzana Ruiz born circa 1885 in Sevilla (or Seville), Spain. While visiting the state of Vermont (USA), she met and married my grandfather, Victor Canales Higuera, on whom I have all of his ancestral information. They were married circa 1908 in Montpelier, VT. My grandfather worked in the granite quarries. Shortly after that they returned to their native land, Spain. There their first two of eleven (11) children were born. Both were daughters. One died either at birth or as a young child. The one that survived went on to Habana, Cuba with them where the rest of the children were born. My late father, Jesus Canales Liguerzana, was the youngest of the ten (10) surviving children. She died in
1961 in Habana, Cuba.
