This may be the information you are looking for, it's from FAMILIAS DOMINICANAS (DOMINICAN FAMILIES) by CARLOS LARRAZABAL BLANCO and this is all the information found in his encyclopedia about the surname FREYRE "1.- Jose Freyre, born in San Roque, Gibraltar (Spain), lieutenant married to Teresa Fernandez de Castro y Melendez-Bazan, daughter of captain Lorenzo Fernandez de Castro and Maria de Belen Perez-caro y Fernandez de Oviedo. Children: 1) Jose Remigio, born Oct. 1, 1777. 2) Francisco de Paula, born April 7, 1779 Godfather colonel lieutenant and sergeant major Don Ignacio Perez-caro. 3) Francisco de Asis. born Oct. 4, 1780, died 1792, cadet. 4) Lucas, born Oct. 18, 1782. 5) Juan Ramon (Utr.) (meaning that this info. was taken from Fray Cipriano de Utrera genealogical work.) Lieutenant of Infantry Don Jose Freyre, died in 1782, buried July 25.
Son #1 Jose Remigio Freyre Fernandez de Castro, sub-lieutenant of the Porto Rican's regiment married to Maria Altagracia Gros, daughter of Esteban Gros and Juana de
Acal (or de la cal). Children: 1) Sixta de los Dolores, born April 10, 1810 (mil. book). 2) Jose Leonardo, born Nov. 6, 1812 (mil. book). 3) Francisco Fermin, born Sept 23, 1815 (mil. book). 4) Micaela Antonia de las Mercedes, born Sept 23, 1817 (mil. book). 5) Manuel Maria Saturnino, born Dec. 29, 1819 (mil. book). 6) Sebastian Maria, born Feb. 25, 1821 (mil. book). 7) Teresa de Jesus, born May 11, 1822. 8) Lucas, born Nov. 2, 1823. The Freyre-Gros family emigrated to Porto Rico (Fray Cipriano de Utrera.)"
If this is your family ancestry here is one of your cousins, great....grandson of Ignacio Perez-Caro(Governor of Santo Domingo,
Hispaniola island 1600's) and Francisco Fernandez de Oviedo (1st chronicler or Historian of the West Indies 1500's). For more info. you may e-mail me.
