hi Pat. Came across your posting while looking for leads on finding a death/burial/tombstone record for a ancestor of mine who I traced to the Putnam, CT area in 1870. The main French-Catholic church of the area seems to be St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Visitation (Diocese is Norwich). I have previously contacted St. Mary's directly to search for a possible burial record and am awaiting news; I was also told that the St. Mary's Catholic Church records were not yet available online. However, today I came across two hard copy directories that exist (one for baptisms and the other for marriages) for the parish. You can't view the actually pages due to copyright issues, but you can do a name search to find out if a particular name listing exists and get the page number on which you can find the info. They have a link on the site to help you find a library that might own a physical copy that can be consulted. Here's the address I found both directories listed on:
