Revolution War records

Fellow Searchers:

My ancestor, Asa Geer, is listed in the Canterbury vital stats.

It lists Asa's death in NYC in Jan. 1781 and "Rev. Soldier" after his name.

I cannot verify that he fought and died in the Revolution in any of the databases I've looked in, so how did the Genweb Project come by this info?

Can anyone help me verify this info?

Thank you.

Susan
