Deb,
I'm still trying to find my Gardner Wilcox's. Gardner Wilcox appears in the 1820 and 1822 censuses in Griswold, CT with his wife Abigail and two daughters under the age of 5. Gardner Nelson Wilcox is born in 1825. There are no Gardner Wilcox's in CT in 1830 and 1840. I don't know what happened to them. The younger Gardner reappears in Preston, CT in 1848. I don't know where they were between 1822 and 1848. The older Gardner's wife, Abigail/Nabby/Abbie marries Richard D. Robbins by 1837 and has a daughter by him. The younger Gardner, age 15, may be living with them in 1840. Could you do a lookup to see how many males are in the Richard D. Robbins family in Voluntown in 1840 and also 1830? Do you know if any kind of census was done in the years 1825 and 1835? Is it possible to also do a lookup in the Norwich Courier? I have a copy of the older Gardner Wilcox's marriage announcement December 9, 1815. I found it in the state library, but the next time I looked for it, they didn't have it. Do you have a good microfilm of this newspaper around these dates? I would like to get to the Center for Connecticut Studies someday. I live in NH.
