Please read below -info appreciated on Ephraim and/or Curtis Warfield. Thanks in advance, Brian (hankycrankyspanky@yahoo.com) Ephraim b.ca.1760 near Westfield, MA (Hampden Co.) ** Eph. son of Samuel, son of Samuel, prob. son of immigrant "Deacon" John Warfield Curtis b.ca.1795 around Berlin, Hartford Co.. Curtis prob. Eph's son. (there's an Ephraim, Jr also). Curtis: married three times Polly Chapman: kids Caroline, Betsey,Henry, Esther, Chester Laura King Betsey Colton 1790 Ephraim still in Westfield, MA (then Hampshire Co.) 1800, 1810 Ephraim is in Hartford Co. 1820 Eph.in Vernon, Tolland Co. 1830 Eph. ends up in Delaware Co., NY early 1830's in nearby Susquehanna Co., PA in 1840 back in Hartford Co. (with Curtis and Ephraim, Jr. on same page), enumerated in household of Chester Wolcott in E. Windsor as a Rev War pensioner. 1850 Curtis Warfield living with (prob.son) Henry in Del. Co. 1850,60,70 Ephraim Jr. in Stafford, Tolland Co. (Eph. Jr. supposedly married twice, to Eliza and Lucinda Cahoon, sisters, daughters of Reuben) Below is a copy of a message I posted under Delaware Co.: Hi, I'm looking for info on Warfield family in Franklin, Del Co. beginning in 1820. First appearance 1820 census for Franklin has "Reuben Warfield", age 16-25, a woman 16-25, plus 1 male and 2 females under 10. In 1830, none in Franklin, but an "Ephraim Warefield" in Hancock, age 60-69 with a woman in 50-59, and a girl 10-14. (This Ephraim apparently moved to Susquehanna Co., PA a few years later where he filed a Rev War pension claim for service in MASS. - there might be a connection to a Betsey Warfield marrying Alanson Coy there around that time) 1840 census- no Warfield heads of house. Other references - Esther Warfield of Franklin married Richard Lee 12/30/1840 Louisa Warfield d. 12/6/1842, aged 21 buried in Franklin Baptist Church Cemetery In 1845 there is a reference to Henry Warfield as a constable in Franklin, then in 1850 we have Henry and Chester (about 3 years younger than Henry) as HOHs in Franklin, not too far apart from each other. Plus, CURTIS WARFIELD, age 54 b. CT, is living with Henry, presumably his father. After that, Henry, Chester, and Esther (Warfield) appear with some regularity in the census for Delaware Co. Notes: Henry moved to Meredith later, married to "Mary" Chester (in Franklin) married twice, to Betsey and Mary C. son with 1st wife - Charles; Richard and Esther Lee are in Sidney, NY I THINK this is the family of Ephraim Warfield, b. ca. 1760 near Westfield, MA (Hampden Co.). Ephraim (I think) has sons named Curtis (I think the same guy in Del.Co. in 1850) along with an Ephraim Jr. who is in Tolland Co., CT through 1870. Curtis married three times, first to Polly Chapman in Tolland Co., CT. A Chapman family hist. lists Chester and Polly having 5 kids - Caroline, BETSEY, HENRY, ESTHER, and CHESTER. This has to be all the same family - ages, names, and some other "stuff" match up. BUT I don't KNOW for sure. The link to 1820 "Reuben" I don't know, BUT Ephraim had a brother named Reuben (also in the Rev War for MA) and Curtis named a son with his 3rd wife, Betsey Colton "Reuben Leverett Warfield" according to IGI (Mormons). This 3rd wife, by the way, though not with Curtis in 1850 (in CT census), shows up in Franklin, 1865 as "Betsey Warfield" (Curtis seems to have died soon after 1850) with the family of her and Curtis's daughter Laura A.(Warfield) Porter (L. marr. Samuel Porter). Also Curtis's son with his 2nd wife Laura King was adopted as an infant by the Recor family of near Hartford, CT. All pretty strange. Two more strange things. There is a random IGI reference to one of Polly Chapman's sisters states that she was born in "East Franklin, Del.Co., NY" Also, Curtis's wives #1 and #3 were first cousins (mothers were sisters Mary and Elizabeth Calkins, respectively, daughters of David Calkins and Hannah Leach orig. from New London, CT).
